Boy I am really going through a SW phase of painting at the mo... Originally this had a working title of "In search of Echo base" but decided to keep it to plainly Hoth.

This is to pay homage to the great Ralph McQuarrie. You may notice the similar stance to the piece he did when concepting hoth scenes for the ESB. Like many of you I just love his style and felt I had to do a piece along the same line.

Here we see an alternative where I combined both the stormtrooper and rebels helmet. I had the idea that this character was probably outdoors for a longer period of time, possibly scouting for an ideal place to put Echo base, rather than searching for it. Notice I used the staff not to disimilar to the pole a sandtrooper uses when riding a dewback on Tatooine.

May RMQ's work live on in all who love his style.
