I'm a fan of science fiction pictures and in particular the work of John Berkey, your work is clearly in the same movement.
The composition of your picture is quite good, you have a very nice foreground which is clearly the most appealing part of the picture. There is no doubt that we face some parts of an destroyed spaceship even if there is no much technical details present.
After this great foreground things are getting more difficult. The second plan made of the spaceship is not enough detail and sharp and give the impression you have a blurry part in your picture between two sharp plan. The smoke coming from the engine should have been blur a little bit to prevent seeing the texture used.
The large spaceships is quite nice but lack a little bit of shadows I think, but ok it's more a detail.
The planet on the left is a bigger concern for me, the texture could be nice, but the problem is about its brightness. It's look like to be the brightest part of the picture and is placed on a border without anything to give balance. Also this brightness suggest that the planet is almost like fire, perhaps a failed star or something, I think that plasma protuberances would have been a nice addition to go in a fail star direction. But also to give the proper light balance. Or if you want to keep it as a planet, I think you should have made it a little bit darker to prevent some light pollution.
The star background is nice in normal DA view, but in full view it lacks a little bit of details, some stars are really too geometric.
So to make a quick summary. I like the style and the energy coming from it, the picture is direct and impressive at first sight. I think it lacks some balance in the light and also in the sharpness between elements.
Yes I a fellow deviant artist made the same comment. JB's work is very impressive although my own work was not intended to copy as such. You could say it's a homage to his works. Thank you for the compliment.
